Founded in 1920, The Bethlehem Center has served thousands of Chattanoogans. Inspired by the gospel, the center builds lasting relationships with Chattanooga’s youth and families by encouraging spiritual growth, leadership development, and education.
They work to break the cycle of poverty through education, workforce development, and health and wellness initiatives for all ages. With a gospel-centered worldview, the leaders behind The Beth understand and work to address the root causes of poverty, rather than only addressing surface-level symptoms.

The Beth maximizes its impact by working with local organizations, businesses, and volunteers to create a stronger, more resilient Chattanooga. This collaborative approach reflects The Beth’s belief that collective efforts are essential for creating lasting, positive change in the city.
CG&A team member John Bates began working with The Beth in June 2022, teaching their development team the CG&A tools of fundraising. John and The Beth team are delighted to celebrate the milestone of 100% board giving: Every member of The Beth’s board of directors financially supports the organization.
“This is the board practicing giving from the inside out,” says John. “It’s been a joy to watch the board develop and to see the development team adapt to using our tools. Now, we’re working on expanding the donor base of individuals.”
While working with The Beth, John has witnessed the heart of the organization. “They serve a dynamic role in Chattanooga, and Reginald F. Smith II (the executive director) is such a dynamic leader. He has a heart for that community, and it shows.”
Reginald says, “CG&A played a pivotal role in streamlining our donor touchpoints. Their innovative approach has not only enhanced our efficiency but also deepened our connection with donors, ensuring more personalized and meaningful engagement. One standout aspect of our collaboration has been CG&A’s dedication to fostering knowledge and skills within our organization. They provided invaluable training sessions for our board on development and fundraising, rooted in a biblical basis which created a solid foundation for our sustained growth. We are truly grateful for their unwavering support and look forward to continued success together.”
