Client Spotlight: Evangelical Christian School

Evangelical Christian School’s mission is to provide preschool through twelfth grade students an excellent academic education in an environment that honors Jesus Christ and challenges students to reach their highest potentials mentally, physically, socially, and spiritually. The private, college preparatory school was founded in 1973 and now includes a student body of about 1,300 children, representing almost 100 local churches.

Key aspects of the school’s mission are character development; a Christ-centered college-prep curriculum with AP, honors, and dual enrollment classes; extracurriculars such as fine and performing arts and athletics; daily Bible classes; and weekly chapel.

Canaan Group & Associates began working with ECS in 2012 and has been one of our longest-partnering clients, leading to extensive growth and stability for the school. Our work has taken many forms: creating an annual fund, assisting in hiring development leadership, leading development office training, building a case for support, conducting a feasibility study, and leading admissions and enrollment coaching. Most recently, we were asked to assist the board in training, leadership, and its own involvement in fundraising. In addition, we are working with the board chair and headmaster to effectively call on their top 25 major donors.

Before working with CG&A, ECS raised less than $100,000 each year. The school now raises around $500,000 annually and is blessed with cash reserves. This fall (2024), ECS will relocate their high school to a new $28,000,000 campus in order to accommodate the 100+ students on the waiting list.
